Institute for Theology and Ethics (ITE)
The Institute for Theology and Ethics (ITE) works out the foundations for theological and ethical questions. It looks at the relations between church and society, especially with the federal authorities, business and other non-church institutions. It is responsible for FSPC publications.
The ITE consists of an interdisciplinary team of three administrative and nine academic staff (theology, ethics, economy, law, ethnology, biology, politology).
The main topics of the ITE lie in three areas with eight focal points
Theology:
- Questions of faith (eucharist, baptism, evangelicalism, ordination)
- Understanding of the church (ecclesiology, being a Reformed church)
Ethics
- Ethics of life (medical ethics, bioethics, environmental ethics)
- Ethics of community (globalization, social and family politics)
- Business ethics (globalization, open forum)
- Political ethics (votes, decrees)
Diaconia:
- Social questions (Diaconia and Women’s Conference)
- Migration (migration, integration, asylum)
Publications take the form of
- Extensive studies (FSPC Position and ITE Study series)
- Brief statements especially on votes and consultations (FSPC Fokus series and ITE Impuls).
